The journey of our business really begins with my own love of horses, which thankfully I passed down to my daughter.

I got my first pony scooby doo at the age of 3 he was a very naughty Shetland pony, who bucked me but mainly my brother off often, all character building, then came along candy when I was 5 when she arrived she was so naughty and used to bite me and throw me off, but thanks to my nan she became the most wonderful pony, my nan also had a horse and I have wonderful memories of us hacking together for hours along the beautiful old railway in the village, I had the most wonderful childhood and was very lucky that my nan and gramp had a field at the end of the garden, so me and my brother Gregg often stopped there on a weekend and once we woke up we used to venture down to the field and spend hours and hours down the field, playing hide and seek, pampering the horses, playing in the brook in the field catching tadpoles while the horses wondered around the fields and sometimes tried to help in the brook, I’ve started sparkle star ponies to re live my child hood and create all the girly glittery wonderful things that I would have absolutely loved for my ponies growing up

Which brings me to Penny's very first pony.

Inky

Meet Inky, our very first pony who’s sparkling into your hearts!

Inky had 2 personalities; she was a little sass pot at times, but she and Penny grew together. Inky was a green 5 year old when we got her, and Penny had never ridden. When we got Inky when she was 5, they learnt and grew together as they went along

And Penny and Inky had such a wonderful bond. Penny would go to Inky after a bad day or an unpleasant hospital visit and walk down to the field on her own to Inky, and Penny would tell Inky all about her day, and Inky would just stand there and listen and have lots of hugs.

Inky was Penny's first pony, and where the glitter obsession began. Glitter hoof oil and paints were a daily occurrence, and the moment we added that first sprinkle of glitter, we knew magic was in the making

Inky went off to start a new, glitter-filled adventure in a loving home after 5 years with us growing together!

Star

Everyone meet Star, the reason this business’s venture exists. We unfortunately lost Star in early 2025, so this was the perfect way to honour his memory

The day he arrived and literally dragged us to the field , I questioned daily for a month what I had done. But, he was the pony that arrived at a difficult time 2 months after Pennys diabetes diagnosis, and he touched all of our soul's and got us through some really dark days, he was cheeky at times but mainly he was the most lovable cuddly horse I think we will ever meet, Harrison also had a wonderful bond with him as well as penny, he would follow you around the field not letting you get any jobs done wanting a hug or scratch. He was scared of bridges, and shocker, he spent the last of his days on a yard where you had to go under a bridge to get on and off the yard, so hacks out were entertaining; he was our therapy, and we miss him so much

Elsa

Meet Elsa, our very own princess pony — every little girl’s dream come true! Penny's best friend.

Getting a been there done that older horse you think easy …. Nope …. We have had our challenges, it took a while to build trust, at times the chestnut mare appears and she can be so stubborn, she’s not the lovable huggy pony like star was, but she has and still is teaching penny every single day, the bond the pair have is truly beautiful, we’re excited to continue to watch them grow together.

Elsa is here to sprinkle magic on every adventure. Penny and Elsa together leave a trail of glitter and sass wherever they go.

Starting Sparkle Star Ponies wasn’t just about ponies — it was born from a personal journey through my daughter being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Managing this condition has had its ups and downs, but one constant source of joy and healing has been the magic of ponies and all things that glitter

This business is my way of sharing that sparkle with you — creating moments of happiness, wonder, and connection through our ponies. Every ride, every sparkle, is a reminder that strength and joy can come in the most unexpected forms.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us. Here’s to more magic, more healing, and many more smiles.
